Flipkart has announced its 2026 Diwali sale, and this year it is called the Big Bang Diwali Sale (older guides and searches call it the Big Diwali Sale). Flipkart’s own banner says the sale starts at 12 midnight, going into 28 October 2026, with “Lowest prices guaranteed*” and 10% off with SBI Cards.

A DesiDime member has since posted a sale window (28 October to 10 November) and the SBI debit card terms, summarised below. Big Billion Days opened on 9 October and Diwali is on 8 November. Flipkart’s Diwali sale names, year by year
The name changes almost every year, which is why searches get confusing. Here is the short history.
- 2023, Big Diwali Sale: 2 to 11 November, the run-up to Diwali on 12 November. Kotak and SBI cardholders got an extra 10% instant discount.
- 2024, Big Diwali Sale: early access for Flipkart Plus members from midnight on 20 October, open to all on 21 October, and it ran until 31 October, which was Diwali. SBI cards got up to 10% off, and the Flipkart Axis Bank card kept its 5% unlimited cashback.
- 2025, two sales: “Big Festive Dhamaka” ran 4 to 8 October with 10% off on HDFC Bank credit and debit cards. Then the “Big Bang Diwali Sale”, a new festive name Flipkart launched with an ad campaign, opened for Plus and Black members on 10 October and for everyone on 11 October, with 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards and credit card EMI. Business Standard listed the window as 10 to 24 October 2025.
So “Flipkart Big Diwali Sale” is the name many people still search, but the 2026 sale is called the Big Bang Diwali Sale, the same name Flipkart used in 2025. What stays the same is the pattern: a short gap after BBD, a fresh bank partner, and a run towards Diwali.

For context: in 2024 the Diwali sale started 15 days after BBD ended and finished on Diwali day. In 2025 a smaller sale started just two days after BBD, and the main Big Bang Diwali Sale followed nine days after BBD. In 2026 the Big Bang Diwali Sale opens in the last week of October, about eleven days before Diwali on 8 November.

Did prices get cheaper after BBD?
Mostly no, for big-ticket phones. Here are prices reported by news outlets for the same phone in BBD and in the sales that followed.

What does get better after BBD
- Your bank card might be in the offer. In 2025, HDFC Bank cardholders, who were not part of the main BBD bank offer, got 10% in Big Festive Dhamaka. In 2024 the Diwali sale offer was on SBI.
- Mid-range phones and accessories. Brands often refresh deals for Diwali, and stock is easier to get than on BBD’s first day.
- Festive categories. Home decor, lights, gifting, ethnic wear and kitchen sets get more space closer to Diwali.
- Less rush. Fewer “out of stock in 2 minutes” deals and easier delivery slots.
What usually does not
- Flagship phone hero prices, as the table shows.
- Limited-stock BBD-only deals on laptops and TVs. Some come back, many do not.

Bank offers: the real reason to wait
A 10% instant discount on a ₹40,000 TV saves you up to ₹4,000, but only if the cap allows it. Every bank offer has a cap (the most you can save), a minimum order, and rules about credit, debit or EMI.
Worked example
Say a washing machine is ₹25,000 in BBD and in the Diwali sale. Your card is SBI. BBD 2026 has 10% on Axis and ICICI only, so you pay ₹25,000. If the Big Bang Diwali Sale gives SBI 10% (announced) with a ₹1,500 cap (an example, not a confirmed figure, because Flipkart’s banner did not show the cap), you pay ₹23,500. If the price rises to ₹26,000 in between, you pay ₹24,500, which is still ₹500 better. If the Diwali sale goes to a bank you do not use, waiting cost you nothing but gained nothing either.

How to plan between BBD and Diwali
- Buy flagship phones in BBD if the price and your card both work. Past data says the price rarely drops later.
- Hold appliances if your card is not in the BBD offer, and check the SBI Cards 10% offer (cap and minimum order) on the Big Bang Diwali Sale page.

- Keep a Dhanteras deadline. Large items need delivery and installation. Order at least a week before 6 November.
